These pictures were taken since October, 2007, with a 12-meg Canon G9. They're all Reno images except for May, August, and September. Links are provided to the gallery page with similar pictures. |

The January image, taken on February 6, 2008, shows Peavine Peak behind the Silver Legacy and National Bowling Stadium domes. The picture was taken from the former Harrahs office building at Second and Evans, across the street from the new Reno Aces Ballpark. This is a typical winter shot with snow on the hillsides but no snow on the valley floor. More pictures like this on the Skylines 2 page. |

The next image, the Indian sculpture, was taken on January 2, 2008, a cool winter day at Idlewild Park. The wooden sculpture is one of the hidden treasures of Reno sightseeing. The bell in the distance is on the California building, the only remaining structure from the Transcontinental Highway Exposition of 1927. This picture is from the Truckee River 1 page. |
 | The March image of downtown Reno, from the Uptown 1 page, was taken at dusk from University Terrace west of Sierra Street on April 2, 2008. University Terrace is the short, winding street with the rock wall that sweeps along the bluff above the freeway and downtown. I only took a few pictures from that one location that day, I was returning from the dentist with my mouth still numb, and I'm surprised this one shot turned out as well as it did. |
 | The April image is Pioneer Center downtown at Virginia Street and Mill shown on the Landmarks 4 page. The theater, which seats 1,500, is used for live performances like the Nevada Opera and touring Broadway productions. At the time this picture was taken on November 28, 2007, the theater was hosting the Magic Underground show which was actually in a basement area below the auditorium. |
 | The open road picture for May was taken on June 14, 2008. I was driving back to Reno from Pahrump and this image of Alternate Highway 95 is just past Schurz heading west to Yerington. That wide spot on the right side of the road at the bottom of the hill is a chain-up area for those icy winter days. This picture is from the Central Nevada 2 page. |
 | The Washoe County Courthouse, shown in the June calendar from Landmarks 1, is across the street from Pioneer Center. I took this picture the same night as the April image. The courthouse was built between 1909 and 1911 and has several newer additions in the back. |
 | For July there's a view of Wingfield Park, also known as the Whitewater Kayak Park, along the Truckee River in downtown Reno. The riverbed and shoreline were reconstructed in 2003 and the grand opening kayak event was held in May, 2004. The picture was taken on June 16, 2008, and in the background is the new Palladio Condominium building. This picture is from the Renovation page and construction pictures of the kayak park can be seen on the Truckee River 3 page. |
 | Mountain Falls in Pahrump is a lush oasis set apart from the dry desert surrounding it. This master-planned golf community, advertised as being 45 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, is the first large, themed, residential area in town. I drive to Pahrump from Reno several times a year to visit family and most of the pictures on this website were taken along the way. On this day, June 12, 2008, I had my Mom in the Jeep and we were exploring new areas of Pahrump. More pictures in Southern Nevada 3. |
 | I'm driving south out of Hawthorne on June 11, 2008, and a few miles down the road I get stopped for road construction, a common occurence in the summer. There isn't any alternate route and the wait time can be up to an hour. When they flag you out of the construction area there can be a knot of 50 cars and trucks bumper to bumper with 50 miles of open road at each end. This official car was ahead of me in the queue. This picture is from the Central Nevada 2 page. |
 | The new Nevada Museum of Art building on Liberty Street, shown in the October picture from the Landmarks 1 page, opened in 2003. The lotus flower sculpture, on permanent loan to the museum, is the Guardian of Eden by Kate Raudenbush which made its debut at the Burning Man Festival in 2007. The outdoor area surrounding the museum is known as the Wilbur D. May Sculpture Plaza. |
 | I took this shot on West Fourth Street late at night on December 7, 2007, from the seventh floor of the condo building across the street. I almost didn't include this picture in the calendars, maybe it's not scenic enough or maybe it's too commercial, but I couldn't resist the quiet story this image displays. That flattened out mess on the roof is a deflated Santa-on-a-motorcycle Christmas display. The pub is out of business now and the property is being developed for another use. More pictures in Uptown 2. |
 | The December image was taken at sunset on November 21, 2007, at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral at Arlington and Second Street. The cathedral was built in 1907 and is currently undergoing extensive renovation to secure the walls and foundation. More pictures of the cathedral are on the Landmarks 1 page. |
